TWO INDICTED FOR CONSPIRING TO DISTRIBUTE MORE THAN 100 GRAMS OF HEROIN

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A federal grand jury indicted two Rhode Island men Wednesday on charges of conspiring to possess and distribute more than 100 grams of heroin. The heroin was trafficked to Rhode Island via the mail from India and Bangladesh, according to U.S. Attorney Peter F. Neronha, who announced the indictments.

Abdulfatah Oladosu, 46, and Lorenzo Gadson, 57, of Providence, R.I., were named in a two count indictment with conspiring to possess more than 100 grams of heroin and conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute more than 100 grams of heroin. Each count carries a sentence of 5-40 years in federal prison. Arraignment dates have not been scheduled.

Oladosu and Gadson were arraigned in U.S. District Court on April 15, 2010, on a Complaint charging them with conspiracy to distribute heroin and possession of heroin with the intent to distribute. They were ordered detained by Magistrate Judge David L. Martin. Gadson was later released on $50,000 bond.

A complaint and an indictment is merely an allegation and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The matter was investigated by the Rhode Island State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA), DEA, ICE, and U.S. Postal Service Inspectors.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Adi K. Goldstein.
